Combat Commander Con (CC Con) 2023

CC CON 2023 is happening!

Our friendly little gaming group will again host a mini-convention dedicated to Chad Jensen’s tactical masterpiece, Combat Commander. We hope you can join us for CC CON 2023 from Thursday 2 March to Sunday 5 March, 2023 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Falls Church, Virginia.

We had 24 participants last year, playing Combat Commander Europe, Combat Commander Pacific, and Great War Commander for four days! Will you rival the Juggernaut, Nathan W, who flew in from Colorado and knocked out 13 games in 3.5 days, winning all but two? Will you be like Jim Adams, who played Combat Commander for the first time at the con and played 11 scenarios? Or will you be like me, and lose many of your games but have a blast while doing it?

We’ve scheduled the convention in March to steer clear of PrezCon and their Combat Commander tournament, and to reduce the chance of weather problems.

How Do I Register?

To register for all four days of the event, paypal $25 to the event organizer (me) at stevegibson260 (at) yahoo.com.

Please include your name and your email address in the comments for your paypal transaction, so I can send follow-up information and event-related details. I will also send you a link to our convention discord group after you’ve registered.

Thursday 2 March (6 pm or later) – walk-up registration, informal gaming in 2nd floor ballroom

Friday 3 March (8am to 11pm) – 2^nd floor Ballroom – Walk-up registration, Combat Commander Europe (CC:E), Combat Commander: Pacific (CC:P), Great War Commander (GWC) teaching, open, and tournament gaming

Friday 3 March (12pm-1pm) – 2^nd floor Ballroom – Seminar/Discussion – Introduction to Great War Commander

Friday 3 March (6pm-7pm) – 2^nd floor Ballroom – Seminar/Discussion – The Combat Commander Random Scenario Generator – Your key to a lifetime of exciting tactical games!

Saturday 4 March (8am- 11 pm) – 2^nd floor Ballroom – Walk-up registration, CC:E, CC:PP, GWC teaching, open, and tournament gaming

Saturday 4 March (12pm-1pm) – 2^nd floor Ballroom – Seminar/Discussion – Introduction to Combat Commander Pacific

Sunday 5 March (8am to 6pm) – 2^nd floor Ballroom – Walk-up registration, Combat Commander Europe, CC: Pacific, Great War Commander teaching, open, and tournament gaming

Sunday 5 March (10am-1015am) – 2^nd floor Ballroom – Tournament Awards Ceremony

Sunday 5 March (6 pm) – Formal Convention Events End. 2^nd Floor Ballroom closes.

What if I’ve never played before?

Come join us! We have many players who will give up playing a game just to sit with you and help you learn the rules. One thing that we’ve learned about Combat Commander players is that they’re some of the most laid back and friendly gamers we’ve met. It may have something to do with the random twists and turns that every CC game provides. It’s difficult to plan a complex multi-turn set of moves, so you tend to relax and enjoy playing in your own personal episode of Band of Brothers!

Where will I stay?

We have reserved a ballroom for the event, and have secured a reduced rate room block for those attending. The convention site is the Hilton Garden Inn in Falls Church, Virginia. https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/dcafcgi-hilton-garden-inn-falls-church/

The hotel offers free parking, free wifi, has its own restaurant and bar, many restaurants in easy walking distance, and nearby metro access to Dulles International and Reagan National Airports, downtown DC, museums and monuments. (But honestly, who’s going to leave a full weekend of Combat Commander goodness to go to some silly Air and Space museum?!)

Attendees can make reservations at the contracted group rate by calling the hotel directly (see below) or calling the Hilton reservation line at 1(800) 774.1500. Please refer to the group name CC CON MAR 2023 or the group code CCCON You may also go to the Hilton webpage, www.fallschurch.hgi.com, Change dates on the calendar; select more options; select add special rate code; type in CCCON in the group code; and hit check rooms and rates to receive the contracted rate. The cutoff date for our room block is this February 10, 2023.
