Combat Commander Con (CC Con) 2024

CC CON 2024 is happening!

Once again, our friendly little gaming group will again host a mini-convention dedicated to Chad Jensen’s tactical masterpiece, Combat Commander. We hope you can join us for CC CON 2024 from Thursday 15 February to Sunday 19 February, 2024 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Falls Church, Virginia.

In 2023, after finding that over half the attendees had never played Combat Commander using random scenario generator (RSG), we made an effort to introduce players to the RSG, and to encourage it’s play by creating and giving out new printed maps. We’re happy to report that we introduced the RSG to many of the attendees, and 16 of our 25 players were able to get in at least one game using the RSG.

This year’s emphasis will be on Combat Commander Pacific. We will be teaching the rules and encouraging players to try out the exciting Pacific Theater! But don’t worry if you’re just keen the play European theater or even Great War commander, there’ll be plenty of games in those theaters as well.

To register for the event, paypal $35 to the event organizer (me) at stevegibson260 (at) yahoo.com, or contact me for Venmo or Zelle details. In the comments for your paypal transaction, please include your name and your email address, and your home city for us to put on your nametag, and so I can send follow-up information and event-related details.

Sunday 18 February (6 pm) – Formal Convention Events End. 2^nd Floor Ballroom closes.

What if I’ve never played before?

Come join us! We have many players who will give up playing a game just to sit with you and help you learn the rules. One thing that we’ve learned about Combat Commander players is that they’re some of the most laid back and friendly gamers we’ve met. It may have something to do with the random twists and turns that every CC game provides. It’s difficult to plan a complex multi-turn set of moves, so you tend to relax and enjoy playing in your own personal episode of Band of Brothers!

We have a special room rate block that is open through 23 January. Guests are welcome to use the personalized booking link or contact the hotel directly. Guests have until January 23rd to make a reservation otherwise there is no guarantee of a discounted room rate.

The hotel offers free parking, free wifi, has its own restaurant and bar, many restaurants in easy walking distance, and nearby metro access to Dulles International and Reagan National Airports, downtown DC, museums and monuments. (But honestly, who’s going to leave a full weekend of Combat Commander goodness to go to some silly Air and Space museum?!)
